When life knocks you down, calmly get back up, smile, and say. "You hit like a bitch."

Cleaning up.

I’ve decided to clean up my blog. I’ve removed all the heavy posts, don’t want to have this constant reminder of the tragedy and the past. I prefer going into the future with positivity and joy! I’m not trying to forget anything, I just want a fresh beginning. I do still have pangs of sorrow every now and then, I still wonder what life would be like if…….But I certainly don’t dwell on it. We have so many things going on, will know more in the weeks to come how it will all pan out.

We had Pete’s sister and family here from NZ in September, it was such a great visit! The boys reconnected with their cousins and just had a blast! We want to go and visit them next, they always come here and we do love travelling, not flying mind you, that pretty much sucks.

The weather is up and down at the moment, it’s gone from extremely hot to mild, I say mild but really I mean cold, it’s just that no-one will believe me, but I do get cold very easily!

My FIL got bitten by a spider 2 weeks ago, he’s been in hospital since last week, and got discharged yesterday. It looked like it could have been a sac spider, it’s cytotoxic venom and it attacked his tissue. His whole leg and foot is now swollen and has this deep purple colour. Pete and I just cant’t believe it, he really doesn’t deserve this now, he just had a fantastic 80th birthday with friends and family and he’s such a fit guy. We do hope his recovery is swift and that he’ll be able to get on with his life soon. The boys are so fond of their Grandpa, they really do need each other. So we will be visiting him lots to keep his spirits up, besides, he’s gonna need alot of entertaining, he is a very busy Grandpa and does not like to sit still for long periods!

A GPS is only good if you can remember where you wanted to go in the first place.

Internetlessness be gone!

Dear Diary, it’s been a while. When that damn virus hit my pc and then thanks to flash discs or whatever they’re called, Pete’s laptop too, I was cut off from the world. At first I was happy, needed the break, but then I started missing life in cyber space. So glad to be back, sort off. I’m still waiting for my pc to come back, but at least Pete is letting me use his machine, so good of him.

So much has happened in the last month, and is continuing on an ongoing basis. All of which is very very exciting! More on that later!

School is going well, we are very busy with science and the whole debate about the existence of evolution or not. It’s an interesting debate. Really gets those critical thinking juices flowing, and we are slowly realising that Darwin was an ass! As most of the scientific community opposes his views for lack of evidence!

Then the age old question reared it’s ugly head again. Why home school? My stock standard answer, Why conventional school? If you feel happy with sending your kids to school, then great! Why are my choices challenged? I don’t give a rat’s ass where you send your offspring to school, so why do you care so much, mmmm? And just so you know, I don’t think South African education is brilliant, not ALL schools mind you, but most. So if you’ve found that great school, wonderfull!!

Then I hear that said person’s son only reads 2 books a year, where my boys have to get through 20 books this year, yeah, I know it sounds alot, and believe me, it IS! And the books are not short little stories either, the average page number 270, with NO pictures! Yeah! So lets not do the whole school is better or home school is better crap, I don’t care and neither should you. My boys are very happy and if your kids are happy, then great!!

So with this, a new era dawns, if you will, I have streamlined my internet use to the bare minimum, because I really don’t have the time to sit and read and browse like used to, I have SO enjoyed my time off and realised that I need to take care of me, and not worry or care about the rest. I used to frantically try and fit everything in, now it’s all about time, how much I have for the internet, and how much I have to myself. So although I missed cyber space, I won’t be living in it again. Feels good.

Our newest member Maddox was neutered last Friday, he bounced back very quickly! He was a sleepy boy on Friday afternoon, and by Saturday he was jumping off the walls! Cassey, my ice princess, decided last night that she might afterall maybe at a push play with the boy, so the two of them ran around like mad here. But she gets tired of him quickly, and being a boy he gets right in her face and then she hisses and growls. But it does look like the two of them will become great friends soon.

Maddox is such an awsome cat, he has a wonderful personality and has Pete wrapped around his little finger. He doesn’t allow Cassey in his cupboard, but he allowed Maddox there this morning. Allowing him to explore at will and for as long as he wanted to! Go figure! He has turned this house upside down, not because he’a a handful, but because he is loved so much. We give Cassey more love and attention, because she seems a bit jealous, so she gets carried around and kissed and fussed over, but so does Maddox, so it makes for interesting life at the moment!

It’s been a hectic few weeks! Cassey is doing so well, her stitches came out and the hair is growing back on her belly, she’s very thin now, looks a bit like a Whippet from the side, but she’s alive and that’s the most important thing. I have not let her go out into the garden, I’m still a bit paranoid about her wound (or what used to be her wound), the vet had to cut so much dead skin off that he had to pull the 2 halves together very tightly to stitch her up, so we’ll see how that all goes. Besides, I’m terrified she slices herself open again!

I can’t wait to have 2009 behind me, not because I think 2010 will be a better year, I just want to know that 2009 is over. It’s ending on a good note for which I am very thankful. Although my Dad is not out of the woods yet, he’s at least alive and returning to his normal self. We have  alot to look froward to next year, like Elize said, “It feels like a new beginning.” So lets see where it will take us.
