We live about 5 mins from a nature reserve, so we try go as often as possible. Yesterday we saw the most amazing number of animals. We went very early in the morning, and were rewarded for our effort. The rhinos we saw were just awesome! And when we drove into a herd of buffalo we were completely surrounded within minutes. The rhinos are nerve wracking, because as big as they are, they move lightning fast if they feel threatened. The buffalo just viewed us with suspicion, but were largely unfased.
We came over the hill and saw these two grazing side by side. Stunning!
It was quite amazing to get right next to them without them moving away!
They started to get a bit edgy with us trying to get past them! It was quite nerve wracking! Because although they are very large animals, the react and run very fast if they feel threatened.
We eventually got past them and left them to eat their breakfast. A friend of Pete’s had a rhino shove his horn right through his Land Rover door at a nature reserve, so were very careful to drive by super slow!
Usually the zebra’s run away from us, but yesterday they were very calm.
We were absolutely amazed that we saw them. We only saw them twice before, and only one or two at a time.
They are strange looking creatures, and most people think they’re dumb, but they are very clever and can hunt the person or animal who hunts them.
It was quite something when they started to move all around the car!
They were very calm around us, but certainly didn’t trust us.
I think they’re beautiful animals, and hugely underestimated!
This guy was quite untrusting of us and herded some of the younger buffalo accross the road.
Usually the zebras are quite nervous, but yesterday they were very bold.
I love this!
